Why is Conan surprised when they talk about a man with a burn on his right cheek? Didn't he know that Akai's alive and he's the one who helped him hide? Or he's surprised because Akai was strolling without his disguise?

He knows Akai wouldn't stroll without his disguise, so of course he's gonna be surprised cause now he knows someone pretending to be Akai is around (probable a BO member). And he probably figured it's a trap to see Akai's acquaintances' reactions.

at this point in the timeline Conan, Jodie, Mr. Black the FBI boss, Camel and all the good guys and Kir and all the Black Org. think Akai is dead. the only thing left identifiable from his burning Chevy truck was a right hand. Jodie on the down-low took Conan's cellphone that he and Akai both touched during the Kir Awakens arc to Takagi so the PD could test the phone's prints against the hand in the truck. it was a match so everybody assumed Akai died.

No, Conan knew from day 1 Akai wasn't dead

The main comment was asking why Conan was surprised about Scar Akai, that's why I said, Conan did know, but he would have been surprised either way because of the intention behind it...
